Xi praises Shandong for successfully hosting SCO Summit

President Xi Jinping commended Shandong province and the coastal city of Qingdao for successfully hosting the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.
Noting that the summit was a great success, Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, expressed appreciation to the officials and members of the public who worked hard to organize the summit.
"The summit brought Qingdao and Shandong a new development opportunity," Xi said, urging authorities in those areas to learn from the good experiences, promote good practices and improve their work in all aspects to a new stage.
The 18th SCO summit was held in Qingdao on June 9 and 10, the first since the organization's expansion last year and the most fruitful since the organization's founding.
Heads of state or government from 12 countries as well as representatives from 10 international organizations or institutions attended the summit. More than 2,000 foreign participants were registered and over 3,000 Chinese and foreign journalists were accredited to cover the summit.
The leaders of the SCO member states signed or witnessed the signing of 23 cooperative documents and reached a series of important agreements on cooperation.
