Yok Mu-ming, former president of Taiwan's New Party, is a renowned pro-reunification politician of the island. He said only when the two sides of the Taiwan Strait are reunited he can hold his head high and be a proud Chinese.
Yok is a witness to the fact that the two sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to one China. Born in Shanghai in 1940, Yok went to Taiwan in 1948 along with his father. He did not expect that it would be four decades before he set foot on the mainland again.
As a renowned pro-reunification figure, Yok has been fighting against "Taiwan independence" for years. Yok said the reunification of China is an inevitable historical trend as both sides of the Strait share the same cultural roots.
