MOC: Technology export must comply with Chinese laws

China said on Wednesday that specific commercial arrangements must comply with Chinese laws, including technology exports, which must be approved by the Chinese government in accordance with the law, said the Ministry of Commerce in an online statement.
China consistently respects and protects the legitimate rights and interests of businesses, and strives to create a market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized top-tier business environment, said a spokesperson from the ministry in the online statement.
The ministry's remarks followed the US government's decision to extend by 75 days the deadline for Chinese tech firm ByteDance to divest the US operations of its widely-used short video app TikTok to a buyer not based in China.
"We oppose practices that ignore market economic principles, expropriate without compensation, and harm the legitimate rights and interests of businesses," said the ministry official.
