In 2004, China National Academy of Painting launched a mentorship program in which its resident artists would open studios to admit and provide guidance to trainee artists from across the country.

Over the past two decades, more artists of the Beijing-based institute have established studios to offer short-term and long-term training. They not only cover Chinese painting, oil art, print, Chinese calligraphy and seal engraving, but there are also courses for art restoration and conservation, framing of classic Chinese painting, stele rubbing and public art research, to name a few.

An ongoing exhibition at China National Academy of Painting celebrates the 20th anniversary of the mentorship program, showing the works of teachers and students until Wednesday.
