More than 920 Chinese suspects involved in telecom fraud in Myanmar were handed over to China recently as part of the two countries' latest collaboration to root out telecommunications and cyberspace scams, Ministry of Public Security said in a statement on Wednesday.

The suspects were captured in southern Shan state during the multiple rounds of operations conducted by the Myanmar side launched on March 24, the ministry said.

Along with them, a large number of equipment, such as computers, cellphones, bank cards, and scripts they used for speaking when committing the scams, was seized, the ministry said.

The suspects were handed to China at Daluo Port in Xishuangbanna, China's Yunnan province.

Cooperation between China and Myanmar to crack down on telecom and cyberspace fraud has led to the capture of more than 55,000 Chinese suspects, dismantling fraud groups in northern Myanmar, according to the ministry.

But some people have fled to other places in Myanmar to escape the crackdown and continue to commit the fraud, the ministry said, adding that it has provided information to the Myanmar side to help it locate and capture the people in the operations launched in late March.

The two countries stay committed to target telecom and cyberspace fraud, and will continue to carry out joint operations, it added.
