As the May Day holiday approaches, Hangzhou's tourism market is seeing strong growth, with the city ranking among China's top 10 most popular destinations, according to multiple booking platforms.
According to traffic data, Hangzhou International Airport is expecting 4,350 flights and 720,000 passengers during the holiday, up 3.6 percent year-on-year.
Concerts are fueling much of the excitement. Wang Leehom's upcoming show in Hangzhou saw 800,000 fans scramble for just 15,000 tickets, boosting nearby hotel bookings by 20 percent. Some fans even booked hotels before securing tickets, deciding to explore Hangzhou if unsuccessful.

The city also offers a range of performances and exhibitions, including the Black Myth: Wukong Art Exhibition, Broadway's Chicago musical, and various music festivals, potentially sparking a wave of ticket-driven tourism spending.
Inbound tourism is also thriving. According to Trip.com, inbound bookings for Zhejiang have surged 90 percent year-on-year, with Hangzhou a top destination for tourists from South Korea and Japan. Local travel agencies report rising interest in digital economy-themed tours, fueled by Hangzhou's booming tech sector and famous "Six Little Dragons" companies.
Meanwhile, Hangzhou's signature spring beauty continues to charm visitors. A massive citywide rose exhibition is in full bloom, with over five million roses across key parks and along elevated highways, offering a romantic backdrop for the holiday crowds.
