China is urging Washington to correct its wrongdoing after the US issued a guidance seeking to globally restrict the use of Chinese advanced computing chips, including Huawei Ascend AI chips, the Ministry of Commerce said on Wednesday.

"Any organization or individual implementing or assisting in the enforcement of these US restrictions will risk violating Chinese laws and regulations, including the anti-foreign sanctions law, and shall bear corresponding legal liabilities," said a spokesperson for the ministry.

The US' measures represent a blatant example of unilateral bullying and protectionist practices. They severely undermine the stability of global semiconductor supply chains and deny other nations the right to develop advanced computing chips and high-tech industries such as artificial intelligence, the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson noted that innovation-driven development and win-win cooperation remain the prevailing trend of the times. China urges the US to immediately rectify its erroneous practices, comply with international economic and trade rules, and respect other nations' rights to technological development.

"China supports global enterprises in deepening technology collaboration based on market principles to achieve mutual benefit, jointly advancing technological innovation for the benefit of people worldwide," the spokesperson said. "China will closely monitor the implementation of US measures and take resolute actions to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests."
