Chinese-developed jetliner C919 completed its inaugural commercial flight, MU5247, from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport to Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport on May 25, marking the beginning of regular flights by the jetliner between the two cities.
Beginning May 25, the C919 will operate the route on a daily basis, with one round-trip flight per day, establishing regular commercial services on this key domestic corridor.
With the C919's entry into regular commercial service, the Xiamen Free Trade Zone is advancing maintenance capacity development for domestically-developed aircraft. The Xiamen Global One-Stop Aviation Maintenance Base has established initial component maintenance capabilities for China's self-developed aircraft, including the C909 and C919 models.
HAECO Xiamen has obtained maintenance certification for multiple aircraft engine models including the GE90 and CF34-10A series. As one of Asia's most comprehensive aero-engine maintenance centers, the facility is at the forefront of Chinese aircraft engine overhaul and repair.
Xiamen FTZ has established a comprehensive aviation maintenance industrial ecosystem led by aircraft heavy maintenance operations and supported by complementary services including passenger-to-freighter conversions, business jet completions, and engine maintenance.
Its business volume ranks among the top in the nation and has an industrial output of tens of billions of yuan ($1.38 billion).
