In Chongqing, the students immersed themselves in a close-up examination of fundamental infrastructure such as roads, bridges and tunnels, and explored intelligent upgrades and safety measures in case studies.

The journey also included a cruise ship along the Yangtze River to learn ecological preservation and sustainable development practices, and also tours in Mawan Smart Port and Huawei in Shenzhen to learn cutting-edge technologies and industry trends.

Anthony Biri, from Ghana, a doctoral student studying supply chain at Shanghai Maritime University, said he was particularly impressed by the unique interconnected bridges in the mountainous city of Chongqing, which is rare in other countries.
