Traditional warning signs prove lifesaving in Guangdong landslide

Early Sunday morning, Zhonghe village in western Guangdong province was struck by a landslide following a day of heavy rains from Typhoon Wutip. Thanks to timely evacuations, no casualties were reported among the village's 45 households and 57 residents. [Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn]

"After receiving early warnings of natural disasters, such as rainstorms and landslides, we must pay close attention to details," she said. She advises observers to study surface water for clarity. When it becomes cloudy, she urges the importance of reporting to higher authorities immediately.

"On the night of the incident, this 'folk method' played a crucial role in protecting villagers' lives," she explained.
