Jinmao Tower surrounded by heavy smoke

Smoke billows from the basement of a construction site near Jinmao Tower, currently the highest tower on the Chinese mainland, in the Lujiazui financial and trade district in Shanghai December 22, 2005. Firefighters rushed to the site and found the smoke was from the construction site of the Tomson Riviera , which is  Shanghai's most expensive housing project with an average of more than 110,000 yuan (US$13,630) per square metre .  [Newsphoto]
