The "Ladies' Safe Trips" taxi service was launched "at the request of Tehran women asking for a safe and relaxed service," according to the municipality transport official Jafar Tashakori Hashemi.
Female passengers can call the company from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm for a green-colored Kia cab driven by "professional and experienced women" and equipped with GPSnavigation systems.
"We hope the ladies employed at the taxi company display their capabilities in social activities by respecting Islamic values," he said.
Passengers in the Islamic republic travel in segregated buses, with women sitting in the back, but they often have to share taxis with three mensqueezed togetheron the back seat.
Women can choose between female-only and mixed wagons on subway trains.

據伊朗首都德黑蘭市政交通處官員加法·塔沙科里·哈什米介紹，應廣大德黑蘭女性的要求，市政交通處日前成立了一家名為“女士安全行”的出租車服務公司，專為女性提供“安全而輕松”的服務。
此種綠色的起亞出租車內置GPS導航系統，司機都是“有專業駕駛經驗”的女性，女乘客從早上6點至晚上10點期間可以隨時打電話叫車。
哈什米說：“我們希望公司雇傭的女司機展示出她們的社會活動能力，尊重伊斯蘭教規。”
伊朗的公交車上男女座位是分開的，女乘客一般坐在車的后半部。但是女性在乘坐出租車時，卻常常不得不和三個男人擠在后座上。
女性坐地鐵時則有兩種選擇，可以坐在女性專用車廂，也可以坐在普通車廂。
