The number of Chinese students studying abroad is still increasing steadily, and the destinations for studying abroad are becoming more diversified.

In addition to traditional countries, some emerging nations have become new study destinations for Chinese students, said Wang Daquan, director-general of Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, at the 2025 China International Education Exhibition Tour in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, on Sunday.

Particularly, many countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative have attracted Chinese students, with Vietnam participating in the education exhibition tour for the first time this year, he said.

Wang's center will help further enhance the quality of higher learning institutions, establish trustworthy mechanisms and foster a safe study environment in these emerging countries.

There is also a growing trend of students intending to return to China after studying abroad, indicating the country's attractiveness in employment, innovation and entrepreneurship amid its economic and social development, Wang said.

More than 100 educational institutions from 16 countries and regions attended the education exhibition tour in Guangzhou.
