The China-Japan Friendship Hospital in Beijing announced on Sunday night the dismissal of an associate chief physician in its thoracic surgery department following allegations of professional misconduct and personal ethics violations.

The hospital stated in a notice released on its official WeChat account that it had received a formal complaint detailing issues related to the personal conduct and professional ethics of doctor Xiao Fei.

According to the hospital, an immediate investigation was launched while Xiao was suspended from his duties. The hospital confirmed that the allegations concerning Xiao's personal conduct were proven to be true.

As a result, the hospital decided to expel Xiao from the Communist Party of China and terminate his employment in accordance with relevant regulations.

Prior to the announcement, reports circulated online that Xiao's wife had publicly accused him of infidelity with multiple medical staff members during their marriage.

Information from the hospital's official website shows that Xiao graduated from Peking University Health Science Center with a doctoral degree in surgery.

Since 2012, he held positions as a resident physician, attending physician, and associate chief physician in the thoracic surgery department of the China-Japan Friendship Hospital. He also served as a master's supervisor at Peking Union Medical College.

The hospital, directly affiliated to the National Health Commission, emphasized its commitment to prioritizing medical quality and patient safety. It places great importance on medical ethics and will continue to strengthen the construction of industry conduct, severely punishing any violations of laws, regulations, or disciplines, it said.
